When Mold Help was asked to evaluate GPS (Global Prevention Services) we were naturally very intrigued about this company, and their technique of prevention and remediation.

Our relationship with this company began over one year ago and the painstaking evaluation took over two months to complete.  Because GPS uses a different system than many other remediation companies, the process required very thorough research.  The analysis began as follows:

After we formed a good relationship, we realized something very important.  CEO, Michael Himelfarb is an experienced and knowledgeable professional of the GPS system.  Combined with the customer service efforts of Vice president, Jeanette Kurtz, the executive team appears to have a really a deep understanding and concern for needs of their customers. The entire staff has an attention to detail that clearly goes above and beyond the average remediation company.

Since Mold Help rejects most inquiries from mold remediation companies, we decided to evaluate GPS due to our primary knowledge of their company and longstanding reputation with their customers.  Our initial evaluation was based upon their entire mold removal process, testing of products, application procedure and entire effectiveness.

We thoroughly analyzed GPS from all aspects to enable customers in making informed decisions. We took everything into consideration including their principles, laboratory analysis of their products, thoroughness of remediation process, assessment of value, and experience.  We were especially concerned about the removal process and were pleased to discover that GPS does not rely solely on products to ?remove? mold.  Rather, they always remove all compromised materials, then, to ensure propriety; they use their patented cleaner and shield procedure.

We also discovered, unlike many other companies who use chemicals, GPS products are used to augment their removal process, and both products are environmentally friendly.  Although Mold Help is precluded to disclose the ingredients of their cleaner, we can say that it consists in part of a detergent, a drying agent and a food preservative.
In laymen?s terms, GPS removes the current mold problem, then applies a Shield using airless sprayers, foggers and carpet extraction machines.

"We're not actually killing mold," Michael Himelfarb said. "That's a flawed method. We basically clean the space with this cleaner."

Himelfarb claims a 100 percent success rate, yet offers a two-year warranty on existing mold jobs and five-year warranty on new construction.

In just two years of operation, the company has treated nearly 700 projects, including hospitals, schools, nursing homes, businesses, homes and even a military base.
The Mold Help panel of specialists has concurred that Global Prevention Services is worthy of the Mold Help Seal of Approval. Global Prevention Services has been in business since April of 2003.  After a two month study, Mold Help believes that the mission statement of Global Prevention Services is very appropriate:

    Company Information from GPS
The company uses two products; a patented, cleaner with a ten year track record.
The second product is a compatible quick drying sealant that can be painted over; which also passed our independent third party laboratory testing.

Most organizations that use chemicals in this matter never cut the grade of Mold Help for several reasons.  First, they rely on their product only, and never remove the compromised materials.  This is something that simply cannot be done. Another matter is that second rate competitors who try to vie for the level of integrity of GPS is that many low level remediation companies use chemicals of such a nature that no living being, man, animal, or microbial, can exist.

What, exactly, are the problems with using harsh chemicals to destroy mold?  Well, actually, there are too many to list.  Therefore, we will cover just a few.  Fungi and humans are very similar. We both contain DNA, genes, and even intolerance for certain chemicals.  These chemicals can make many people very sick, as Mold Help has witnessed with certain individuals who have hired such unscrupulous remediation applicators.  GPS products do not contain harsh chemicals, nor do they leave residue that can leave chemically sensitive people ill after the process is finished.

This company specializes in mold prevention and many types of remediation jobs.  They utilize their chemical and remediate methods using accepted standards.  Mold Help has thoroughly researched every aspect of this company, and in our opinion, we have found them to go above and beyond the average organization of this type.

Having surpassed every aspect of our rigid standards, Mold Help feels that this company is a trusted and reliable resource that would be an asset for preventative measures, and after laboratory testing of their products, we feel they are effective and non-invasive.
Global Prevention Services products and services were evaluated under a review of their characteristics, the manufacturer's claims, assessment of their performance and appraisal of aspects such as quality control, application procedures, remediation process under accepted standards, customer feedback, background check, third-party independent laboratory testing on products, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), Mold Help IAQ advisor opinions, and on-site practice.  The Mold Help Organization has fully approved this company has a fully approved resource and would like to receive feedback from future customers on its services as a measure of rating and standards.

    How their process works:

They apply a barrier against mold. They treat their home or business with their special process, which are applied by their certified technicians. After their work is done, a two to five-year warranty is given for the long-term prevention of mold.
On Existing Building's, Their Three Step Process Includes:

An "Advanced Surface Prep Cleaning Solution"
This process is similar to "washing and waxing" their car. Global Prevention Services, Inc. will treat the wood, molding, stucco, floor boards, dry wall, and remove any existing contamination.

The Application of their "Microbial Shield"
This application then seals the surfaces and provides protection  for great peace-of-mind. This critical step creates the Shield that separates the contaminant from its food source, severely limiting the organisms? ability to thrive and amplify.

    "Testing"
They require their clients to engage independent environmental professionals to take samples of the air inside and outside of their property, sometimes before, and always after their products have been applied. An independent laboratory conducts the analysis of the readings and reports whether the building values are within ?normal and acceptable ranges'. Upon completion of their process you will know, and be assured, that their environment is as clean and healthy as humanly possible. Their warranty, if applicable, will be issued upon receipt of an acceptable test result(s). The risk for major, disruptive and costly remediation will be mitigated as will the concern for current and future health related concerns.

The GPS System; More information about the products that we evaluated

    GPS ADVANCED SYSTEMS CLEANER
GPS has an All Purpose Cleaner that is environmentally friendly It is a U.S. patented product designed to remove organic material from porous and non-porous building material.  When contaminated drywall has been removed, application of the GPS Advanced Cleaning System has proven through their own testing to be effective in the process of cleaning and restoring studs, beams, and other surfaces. Significant cost savings have been realized on prevention and remediation projects.

The reason GPS asserts to be so effective is because of its unique chemistry. Consisting of hydrogen peroxide and quaternary ammonias, it penetrates into porous materials to effectively clean and remediate the surface. This chemistry to be one of the best advanced cleaning agents for microbial projects.

The stronger strains of mold and bacteria attach themselves to surfaces within colonies called biofilms. Biofilms are essentially places where organisms can hide. A biofilm community can include bacteria, fungi, yeasts, protozoa and other microorganisms. When an organism is within the biofilm it is all that more difficult to reach and at that point are extremely difficult to eradicate.

    GPS Shield

The final step is to apply the shield.

The company uses this simple analogy "Like Washing and Waxing your car".

GPS's new mold barrier contains agents with inhibit growth of the stronger strains of mold and bacteria for a minimum of ten years*, when properly applied. It is the most cost effective per square foot application for mold remediation and protection in the industry today.

This new system dries quickly, and can be applied to practically all building surfaces. The GPS system is very affordable and easy to apply. When used by our trained applicators, buildings can be reoccupied faster.

GPS Shield can be applied clear or with a tracing compound to track areas that have been treated. It resists water and can be painted over.  GPS Shield is a revolutionary new protective barrier treatment that provides the ultimate long-term protection against the stronger strains of mold and bacteria.

GPS Shield technology is the result of years of research. It is formulated with the highest-grade materials available today. It can be applied to most building surfaces which will accept a water-based latex coating i.e., walls, floors, ceilings, etc.

GPS SHIELD is the first line of defense against mold and bacteria for new home construction, and the remediation of existing mold problems. It is an environmentally responsible solution for the unsightly adhesion of mold, mildew, fungus, bacteria and airborne contaminants. And it resists moisture penetration.

    Mold-Help Review

Global Prevention Services performs mold prevention, settled spores issues and some remediation projects.  We also conducted a complete background check on this company.  They have never had any claims or reports against them.

Mold remediation is an unregulated industry.  Due to much impropriety in this type of business, our panel ranks mold remediation professionals at much more strict standards.

To become a Mold Help Approved Remediation Resource, it is an honor in itself that the average remediation company rarely achieves.  If a remediation professional passes our rigid process, we generally rate them with a ?fair? or ?good? rating at the highest in the initial award status.  Therefore, Global Prevention Services has surpassed the expectations of our panel of experts.

The Mold Help Panel concurred to rate this company with 2 stars as an initial rating.   This, in no way, negates this company or their products.  After a two month investigation, Mold Help has approved and awarded Global Prevention Services with our Seal of Approval, which is above and beyond the average company by any means.

As Mold Help receives sincere consumer feedback regarding GPS, this rating may change.  We value your comments and opinions.
